The art of contrology proves that the only real guide to your true age lies not in years or how you THINK you feel, but as you ACTUALLY are as infallibly indicated by the degree of natural and normal flexibility enjoyed by your spine throughout life. - Joseph H. Pilates

My training philosophy focuses on strengthening and challenging foundational fitness skills. Before beginning any skill intensive sport or activity, athletes, weekend-warriors, and/or anyone in pursuit of optimal health should understand how to effectively move their bodies with control. This requires joint stability, endurance, full physiological range of motion, strength, motor control, balance, and importantly, movement without pain

In an attempt to counteract a ubiquitous sedentary lifestyle, we engage in highly technical activities without a foundation of basic fitness. Poor fitness cannot be solved with aggressive physical training, and building a set of intricate skills on dysfunction compromises performance and heightens the risk of injury. I have found that Pilates, when taught correctly, is one of the best platforms to create a solid foundation with which athletics and other modalities of exercise can be built upon
